Big Turnout for Homecoming
Tradition, togetherness, and team spirit were front and center during Virginia Wesleyan's 2018 Homecoming and Family Weekend. Marlins came home October 5-7 to celebrate the University with three days of events. View the photo gallery and read all about the big weekend.

Associate Professor of Biology and Director of Winter and Summer Sessions at VWU feels most at home on campus in a lab in the Greer Environmental Sciences Center. Her love of teaching and mentoring students shines through all she does.  

Lifelong Learning Institute Offers Variety of Courses this Fall
The adventure of learning continues at Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay, a Virginia Beach life-care community for active retirees. This fall, members can once again engage in Virginia Wesleyan course offerings in religion, history, political science, and more through the Westminster/Wesleyan Lifelong Learning Institute.

Congressional Candidates  Speak at VWU in October
Congressional candidate Elaine Luria and Congressman Scott Taylor visit Virginia Wesleyan in October to meet members of the VWU community, deliver remarks, and answer questions. The visits were coordinated by Wesleyan Engaged and the Departments of Political Science and Recreation and Leisure Studies in an effort to prepare students for election day on November 6.

October 5 Declared as Energy Efficiency Day at Virginia Wesleyan
President Scott D. Miller declared October 5 at Òùµ´ÉÙ¸¾. VWU joins dozens of cities, states, companies, and government agencies nationwide in this effort, but is only the second college or university in the country-the first in the Commonwealth-to make this proclamation for 2018.


Newly Released Book Co-edited by Professor Kathy Merlock Jackson Includes Chapters Written by VWU Professors
McFarland & Company, Inc., Publishers have announced that "Shapers of American Childhood," a book of essays on visionaries from L. Frank Baum to Dr. Spock to J.K. Rowling, is new on bookshelves. Several members of the Virginia Wesleyan faculty-including Kathy Merlock Jackson, Kathy Stolley, Susan Larkin and Lisa Lyon Payne-have written chapters in the book.

Wesleyan to Host Scholarship Fair October 13
Scholarship Sharing, a nonprofit dedicated to connecting Virginia students to resources for funding higher education, will host its at Òùµ´ÉÙ¸¾ on October 13 from 12-5 p.m. in the Jane P. Batten Student Center.

Students of all ages are welcome for presentations on finding and applying for scholarships and federal aid. Free professional headshots will be offered for portfolios and scholarship applications.

General admission is free and tickets will be available at the door, but pre-registration is recommended to avoid lines. Register today at .
