Future Marlins and their families gathered for a glimpse into life at Virginia Wesleyan on October 19 as the University hosted its first Marlins Day Open House of the academic year.

The day began with early-bird tours of Wesleyan's beautiful 300-acre campus, followed by registration and a welcome session in the Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center with remarks from VWU President Scott D. Miller.

"There is so much to say about Virginia Wesleyan," Dr. Miller told guests, "but if I’ve convinced you that it is a place of tremendous possibility, energy and opportunity, then I’ve done my job today. VWU is a special, student-centered university where you will learn many skills, and enjoy lots of new opportunities. We offer an educational experience that will prepare you not just for your first job, but also for the one after that…and for the rest of your life."

Throughout the morning, visitors explored campus, met VWU faculty and staff, and learned about academic offerings, scholarships, and the financial aid process. Special freshman, transfer, and parent break-out sessions were held, and an Academic Department Fair took place in the Jane P. Batten Student Center. Guests also had the opportunity to watch Marlin Athletics in action—including volleyball, swimming, soccer, and field hockey—and auditions were held for the VWU Music Department. Lunch was served in Boyd Dining Center.

The next Marlins Day Open House is scheduled for Saturday, February 15. Learn more and register at vwu.edu/marlinsdays.
