Residence Halls

The residence halls at Virginia Wesleyan are designed to foster a sense of community. VWU’s four-year residency requirement offers the opportunity to enhance student engagement, support academic success, and foster a holistic experience dedicated to community building and development. We believe that it is in the residence halls that students find opportunities for cultural, educational, social, and recreational enrichment. To further support these opportunities, two of the four villages are modeled after Thomas Jefferson’s Oxford-Cambridge plan, incorporating an ability to both live and learn in a shared community that houses faculty offices, classrooms and student residences.

Each room is furnished with:

  • Extra-long, twin-sized beds
    (mattress size is 39” X 80”)
  • Desks and chairs
  • Closet OR wardrobe
  • Dresser
  • Window blinds
  • Overhead light
  • Wired and wireless internet access
  • Smoke detector
  • Heat/AC unit
(Apartments & townhouses have central heating and air)

Each floor has one Resident Assistant (RA) to assist the students who live there. Additionally, each village has a Village Coordinator that oversees the village and the RAs. The Village Coordinators participate in a rotating on-call system and are available to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day.
