Virginia Wesleyan hosted its very first intercollegiate home swim meet on October 21, 2017 in the natatorium of the Jane P. Batten Student Center when the Marlins competed against the Wildcats from Randolph College. Students, faculty, staff and guests were invited to "Pack the Pool" for this historic event and celebration of the University's recently established swim program.

The captured a dual meet victory over the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponents, winning handily 105-47. The Randolph  men's swimming team ultimately defeated the 125-39.

“It makes sense that the Marlins have a swim team,” notes VWU Head Swimming Coach Mike Ginder. “Since it’s a new program with a blank slate, I’m looking forward to helping to shape it. I’m really excited about the potential of this new team and want to lead them to finish in the top half of the ODAC, that would be our challenge goal.”
