Virginia Wesleyan to Require COVID-19 Vaccination for Fall 2021

Students, faculty and staff must submit proof of vaccine prior to return for semester

University News | April 27, 2021

The following message was released on April 27 from Òùµ´ÉÙ¸¾ President Scott D. Miller to students, faculty and staff, announcing the requirement of the COVID-19 vaccination prior to returning to campus for the Fall 2021 Semester. The fall semester begins on August 25, 2021.

April 27, 2021

Good morning,

We have recently learned that the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Virginia has determining that Virginia institutions of higher education may condition in-person attendance on individuals’ receipt of an approved COVID-19 vaccine. As such, VWU students, faculty, and staff, including primary contract service providers (Aramark, Sodexo, and Sentara), must submit proof of vaccination prior to returning to campus for the fall semester. Limited exceptions, for medical or religious reasons, will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

There are many site options for vaccinations for all persons over the age of 16. Some options include the VDH location at the Virginia Beach Convention Center (1000 19th St, Virginia Beach, VA 23451), the FEMA location at Military Circle Mall (880 N Military Hwy, Norfolk, VA 23502), or to make arrangements with a primary care provider or a participating pharmacy. Visit for more information.

It is our sincere intention to return to fully in-person instruction in the fall. With the vaccine requirement, this means that our students, faculty, and staff can rest assured that the threat of the coronavirus has been mitigated on campus as best as we can.

Additional information about the submission process and due dates is forthcoming.

Sincerely,

Scott D. Miller, Ph.D.
President
